FAQ

Can we do trades with CPU GM's?

Yes. CPU Trades can be done on two designated times during the season. CPU Trade Frenzy & CPU Trade Deadline.

Can we 'Play' in games for our team, or strictly SIM/Watch games?

No, you CANNOT 'play' in games with your team. This is a GM only League. CPU Coaches Coach, CPU Players Play, and Human GM's GM.

Press Box Scouting is allowed, but requires an available HGM or a CPU match to do so. See how in FAQ's.

Can we watch and scout 'In Game' matches? If yes, how?

Yes. Here's how, select Play/Accept [Game Loads] Goto In Game Menu/Settings/Select Side/Move Icon to middle 'No Side'/Resume Game/

Note: While watching 'In Game' action, If there is an arrow on top of any of your teams players or that of your oppenent, this is an obstruction of our 'GM Only' Rules - to be abided by at all times. Any GM found do anything other than 'watching' is in that moment considered to be cheating.

Why are the Stanley Cup Playoffs SIMMED in one day?

A GM's job is done; Your Team is Set/Strategy Team AI selected/Preferred Playoff Lines Edited/Your CPU Coaches Coach & CPU Players Play/

Insures 100% that there is No Cheating: Important to know when awarding the Top GM PRIZE at then end of the 25yr GM career period.

We are a 25 yr Full SIM League. 14 Days x 25 Seasons = 50 real time weeks. The Trading & FA period take the priorty here.

Is it true that the GM with the Best Single Season Record + that yrs Stanley Cup, wins a Prize?

YES! Winners Choice of next years NHL14 (pre ordered copy) or nhlgms.com Book 'Behind the Moves'

What happens if two GM's qualify for the Prize with the identical Reg. Season Record + Cup?

Then it will go to the GM with the most Cups over their career, followed by the most President Trophies (Best Reg. Season Record)

If Still tied, it will go to the GM with the most combined Wins over their Stanley Cup Winning seasons.

If an HGM decline's my trade proposal to them, will I be notified?

Yes, do to a recent update, you will recieve notice in your In Game Inbox, whether or not your trade went through, and if not, the general reasoning why, as determined by the CPU.

If I fleece another Human GM (HGM) in a trade will it be declined?

No it will not. I happens to NHL GM's all the time. However if two HGM's look to be blatantly cheating with stacking a team it will be declined.

If in the Serious event that a trade is declined, this would be perceived as cheating, and the League would remove the responsible parties.

Caveat: If a GM is makes a successful deal with the CPU, it will be declined, the trade reversed, and a 1 time warning handed out.

What's the best way to make trades when I am away from my PS3?

In the 'Trades' section of  this website, and or via Skype texting with online GM's.

What if I will need to be inactive for an extended period of time?

You must notify the Commissioner and or other GM's to place a request to go inactive.

The longest period a GM can go inactive is 2 weeks. If a GM is inactive for longer than 2 weeks he will be removed.

Special considerations can be made upon request to hold the inactive team for an additional 2 weeks. However the CPU will GM during that time.

A GM who is granted an additional 2 weeks of inactivity will be removed out of the league, thereafter requiring him to re-join the League.

Any GM who is accepted back into the league, can only reclaim his original team. No GM for any reason will be able to GM a different team.

Do I need to have a SKYPE account to join this league?

Yes. Multiple forms of Communnication are key to GM'ing!

Will GM's use SKYPE for phone calls, or only to SKYPE Text?

Skype texting will be the major use of Skype in this league. Remember this mode is all about Communication - feeling out deals...

However, No GM is required to Call or take Call's from other GM's. Similar to when a family member calls, in that you don't 'have' to pick it up.

Not returning/Sending Skype texts in regards to trades for an extended period of time will be considered inactivity.

However, we understand each GM will prefer different ways to make/present their Trading Blocks/Proposals.

In the end, to be successful, a GM only needs to be active in one of three places: 1. PS3 Trading Block 2. This Website 3. Skype Texting

Obviously the GM's who use these communication avenues in a regular/polite fashion, will most likely also be the ones hoisting Lord Stanley!

What is considered 'Cheating,' and how will it be dealt with?

Currently there are two infractions that would be considered Cheating in this Pure GM Full SIM 25 yr League.

1. Playing or Coaching of any kind within the 'In Game' exeperience will be considered Cheating and if a GM is found guilty, he will be removed completely from the League.  However, GM's CAN create their AI Team Strategy, and Edit their Lines prior to Puck Drop. Players can also enter the 'Play' mode of a Game, however Players must go to the 'In Game' settings to select a Neutral Side, which then in turn restricts them from doing anything but 'Scouting/Watching' from their GM Armchairs. If you or another GM is having an 'In Game' experience and see a 3D arrow on one of the Hockey Players Heads - somebodies 'Cheating'

2. Any two or more HGM's who blatantly stack One team with prime aged players without the proper Draft Pick/Prospect compensation in return, will be seen as trying to gain an unfair advantage to win the 'Prize' and or dilute the authenticity of the League. However, to be considered cheating it would have to be obviously and blatantly a 'One Sided Deal'

(Note: This is NEVER to be confused with One GM fleecing another 'Glen Sather Style')

Anyone reported as Cheating will be contacted by the Commissioner to discuss the claimed infraction further. Reports will be handled on a case by case basis with the assistance of a respected GM/deputy Commissioner. Furthermore, any GM who calls one of his peers a Cheater, and is later found to have made a false accusation, will possibly be removed, & a motion will be made to reinstate the falsly accused 'Cheater'

(Pure GM will be run and managed using the GM Honor System - Any GM revealed to be a cheater, will be removed from the League!)

Why is 1st Prize going to the team with the Best Single Season Record + A Stanley Cup?

We selected to award the GM who accrues the best Single Season Record + a Stanley Cup because it means a GM can go Cup'less the first 24 yrs of his 25 yr career and still have a chance at winning the Grand Prize. Now for those who might think, "Ok, but what if I have a dynasty and win multiple cups in my 25 year career, doesn't that warrant some kind of prize?" Yes it does! 5 Cups or more in a career and you win a prize - TBA!

Is it true that if I manage a Dynasty to 5 or more Stanley Cups that I will win a prize?

Yes. However, you will be ineligible if you win the Grand Prize of Best Single Season + a Cup. Dynasty Prize TBA.

If two or more GM's get to 5 Cups or more, the GM with the best Regular Season Record in his Cup winning seasons combined, will win!

The Runner Up in this situation will be awarded with 3rd Selection in the Team Dispersal Draft the following year and placed on our wall of Fame.

What is a 'Tick' in NHL13?

A 'Tick' advances the League schedule either 3 virtual days, 1 virtual week or 2 virtual weeks.

There are three lengths of 'Ticks' in EA's GM connected mode.

3 Virtual Days / 1 Virtual Week / 2 Virtual Weeks

A Tick/League Schedule Advancement is required before transactions of any kind can be seen/reviewed by the Commissioner.

Only the commissioner has special access to advance the league at a Tick of either 3 virtual days, 1 virtual week, or 2 virtual weeks, depending upon what schedule the league is trying to follow, a commissioner will find themselves using a multitude of variations.

This league will try it's best to keep all GM's fully informed as to which length and at what time a Tick will be used. (Goto Schedule section)

NOTE: 11:59pm PST will be the default time for Tick/League Advances, including Multiple Tick Length Periods during the Regular Season.

Do commissioners have to advance the league before a Waiver/FA signing/Trade can go thru?

Yes. Currently this is the solution EA has for us to be able to GM online.

We fully understand that easily accessible and open communication is at the foundation of all deals in the NHL!

This was a major contributing factor in our decision to create a website along with making a Skype account mandatory to becoming a GM here.

Can we have our EDITED LINES remain unchanged following a SIM period? (Prospects)

During a SIM period, the lines remain unchanged only until there is an injury to a player in your line up. When an injury to one of your players occurs the CPU changes/resets the lines to 'best' lines = Best OVR rating + Position of player. For example, those prospects you place on your second line with the intention of giving them scoring line experience  can/will remain their only until a minor or major injury occurs, whereby they are auto reset during a SIM defaults into place. Hopefully there is a slider for CPU coaching one day but currently there is none. What GM's can  do in the trading/off season is; build their team around lines you want by trading and or placing 1 ways with higher OVR ratings/at the desired positions, into the minors. As you can see the CPU chooses the best Ovr to play in any given position. Understandably, this remedy requires readiness team strategy wise to make such moves/decisions (rebuilding teams for instance). Furthermore, you can Sim or watch all games vs. CPU in btwn designated SIM periods- and then diligently make the desired Line Up Changes when/after injuries occur, which would assist in half of the games simmed during the Reg. season, however we do 4 week sims for the majority of the Reg. Season, so the 2nd two week sim would rely on if your lineup has injuries or not in regards to who plays where and on what line. (If any GM finds a better way to mitigate this please post your findings in our 'GM Meetings' section on the site)

Following a SIM period does a Trade Proposal remain in my potential Trade Partners inbox? (Trade Deadline)

NO. Following the conclusion of a 'SIM' period, GM's must resend any and all trade proposals, unless of course that trade proposal from the previous SIM period was 'Accepted' and 'Approved' by the Commissioner. Whether or not a trade proposal has been accepted & approved will be evident by viewing 'Transactions' and your Team roster to check for any new additions. NOTE: If another GM declines your Trade Proposal you will not receive (nor will the Commissioner) any confirmation on the Trade Proposal being declined. All the Commissioner see's is a 'Pending Trade Request,' which comes only after one GM has made a proposal and that other GM has 'Accepted' it. Once a deal has been 'Accepted' the Commissioner receives the details of the deal in his Inbox. The deal is then 'Approved' - however the players are NOT delivered to the teams involved in the deal until the next SIM is completed. This is a major reason why we have alloted two - 3 day SIM periods (as opposed to our Reg.Season 4 weeks SIM's) during the Trade Deadline Period, as it insures players can be recieved in a timely fashion while also resetting GM inbox's, removing any and all unchecked/undecided Trade Proposals, thereby giving a clean slate to those GM's who have proposed the deals in a prior SIM period, and also allowing that same GM to take the previously offered players and propose them elsewhere, helping our league to better focus those final 24 hours of the Trade Deadline squarely on the most current of proposals as the clock winds down to 11:59pm PST!!! : )

Please Note: SKYPE Texting is key during the Trade Deadline Period - firstly, negotiating a trade is what GM'ing is all about, and with SKype texting, a large amount of time is saved as your deals can be quickly discussed with sticking points regarding picks or players being ironed out prior to sending a proposal to the League. Secondly, active GM's are not left in limbo - wondering if a GM has seen let alone declined/accepted his offer or not. Simply stated - if you are available on Skype during the Trade Deadline your percentage to make a deal will go up dramatically up, hence the reason we made having a Skype account mandatory, for as Hardcore GM's we all want to experience this mode to the fullest! Otherwise, with how the mode is currently set up, GM 'A' sends a proposal to GM 'B,' however GM 'A' will receive no in game response whether or not the deal has been seen, declined, or accepted, so if GM 'B' is not available at Skype from time to time, there can be no dialogue/communication to state the latter,  so then, GM 'A' most likely gives up on proposing deals to GM 'B' and moves onto GM 'C,' 'D' and 'E,' and GM 'B' misses out on a key opportunity to improve his team, when a quick 5 min Skype check & text once or twice a day would have been all that was needed to decline, negotiate or accpet GM 'A's proposal. So try your best to keep the Skype lines of Communication open. Plan in an easy daily routine, simply alloting a couple of minutes to the end of your day (prior to the SIM period that day) and reply to deals before getting some shuteye - and to those GM's proposing the deals, propose the day before a decision is needed, keeping your texts short and to the point to encourage quick/direct respones. Happy GM'ing Gentlemen! : )

Is it just me, or is the League Commissioner hardcore about GMing?

Yes he is! He is also married, runs a small business, and somehow makes to time to be able to enjoy himself among other highly passionate HGMs!
